Various prestigious buildings by Georg Adolph Demmler form the townscape of Schwerin. During his studies at the Technical and Art Academy in Berlin, Demmler had been the disciple of the famous Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Later he became the ducal court architect of Schwerin. He entered the service for Mecklenburg in 1823. However, because of his high social consciousness and membership in the citizen’s committee of Schwerin, Demmler got into trouble with the court society and was removed from his office in 1851.
